Science Example
When I create a lesson for my students in Edmodo, I often take a ‘web quest’ type approach to provide a framework for the various activities. Within Edmodo, it is very easy to write out instructions for the lesson and attach links within the same thread to allow the students to quickly access the various links. There is no need for the students to type in URLs or copy and paste the links, as they can all be embedded within the Edmodo environment. In the example below, the students would have already had access to the links for both the digestive and circulatory systems, as they would have been made available to them as soon as the topics were covered in class. The circulatory system is the current topic of study and these links would be new to the students. The students can choose to access any of the links in order to explore any of the topics. Here is an example of a typical Science lesson that I would use to reinforce concepts that we have already covered in class:
Example Lesson:
Use the following links and videos to review and find out more about the three body systems that we have been studying in our human body unit; the digestive system, the respiratory system, and the circulatory system. Once you have done some exploring and you feel ready, complete the Human Body Check Up Quiz that has been prepared for you.

The Digestive System:
1.) A Journey Through the Digestive System 2.) Digestive System Matching Activity 3.) Digestive System for Kids Website 4.) Digest Quest 5.) Digestive System Games |
6.) Bill Nye the Science Guy- Digestion Video

The Respiratory System:
1.) Respiration Animation 2.) The Respiratory System- How It Works 3.) Health- The Respiratory System 4.) Interactive Respiratory System Labeling Activity |
5.) Bill Nye the Science Guy- Respiration Video

The Circulatory System:
1.) Circulatory System for Kids Website 2.) Matching Game- The Circulatory System 3.) Keeping Healthy 4.) The Human Heart- Games & Activities 5.) Rags to Riches- The Circulatory System 6.) Cardiovascular System Activity 7.) National Geographic- Heart |
8.) Bill Nye the Science Guy- Circulatory Video

Once the students feel ready, they will conclude this self-directed lesson by completing the Human Body Unit Check Up Quiz which is a 20 question quiz about the above three body systems. Once they have submitted their test online, they can instantly access their mark. Students can view which questions they answered correctly and incorrectly, so that they can learn from their errors.
Here are two examples of what the different parts of a lesson such as this may look like within Edmodo:
When a link is embedded within a post, it is automatically converted into a graphic, making posted links visually pleasing and easy to use.

At a glance, it is easy for educators to tell how many students have completed and submitted assignments and quizzes.
